Visit ancient Ledard and enjoy a morning tour of a diverse working hill farm in the Trossachs with its beautiful waterfall, which is documented in Sir Walter Scott's novel 'Rob Roy'. Gregor will present the history of the farm dating back to 1474AD and Scott's experiences during his visit to Ledard in 1817, there will also be readings from Rob Roy and Three nights in Perthshire which aaccurately accounts the farm according to Scott. The farm also has many connections to Rob Roy and Clan Gregor from the late 17th Century in relation to cattle farming and the Jacobite 1689 & 1715 rebellions. This presentation also includes a weaponry demonstration In MacGregor's Barn showing you the weapons of the Jacobite Clans - the Claymore, the Broadsword, the Dirk, the fearsome Lochaber Axe, and the Doune pistol. We will tell you the story of the Battle of Sheriff Muir at which Rob Roy fought in 1715 and also major feature in Scott's Rob Roy.
This talk will be at 10 am on the following Tuesdays - 15th June, 13th & 27th July, 10th & 24th Aug, 7th Sep.

Meet at Ledard Farm - about 4 miles beyond Aberfoyle on the B829 (Inversnaid) road. The farm is on the right just after the Forest Hills Hotel. Suitable for those interested in Literature and history. Very little walking, mostly indoors with parking and toilet facilities.
