Near the beginning of Sir Walter Scott's epic poem 'Lady of the Lake', the noble stag: 'Pondered refuge from his toil, By far Loch Ard or Aberfoyle'. And well he might have done because Loch Ard is one of the jewels of the Trossachs - not only due to its scenic beauty and tranquility, but also because it is steeped in history which is why Sir Walter chose to portray some of his literary characters in the locality. As part of the Scottsland celebrations, we are pleased to invite you to Strath Ard to enjoy either a morning and/or an afternoon with two of Strath Ard's present day characters.
In the morning Gregor Wood will give a historical and literary presentation at Ledard Farm - described in Sir Walter Scott's novel 'Rob Roy'.
In the afternoon, Arthur Jones will take you on a guided walk by the shores of Loch Ard to visit some crofting ruins from Rob Roy's era and will talk about some of the plants which the crofters would have used in their daily lives.
